Residents on Red Rocks Rd may experience minor power and water supply disruptions as a new footpath is constructed between Cypress Court and the foreshore.
Access to residents’ properties will also be impacted for four days after concrete is poured, to allow it to dry properly.
Construction of the footpath will begin in mid to late October and is expected to take about 12 weeks to complete, with the aim to have it finished before the Christmas period.
The new footpath will improve access for pedestrians and safely connect Settlement Rd to the foreshore, council says.
The $160,000 project is being funded by Bass Coast Council’s 2022/23 pathway gaps program.
“These works will give residents along the streets and the greater area, a safe connection to the existing footpath network,” council documents said.
The path will be 1.5m wide and made from concrete.
Council have said service adjustments for water, power and Telstra services, as well as alterations to stormwater will be required at times.
Some minor vegetation trimming and removal will also be carried out as part of the construction.
Council have also prepared residents to expect the use of noisy machinery, sawing and increased truck activity.
“Council understands that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby residents and businesses and appreciates their patience,” a spokesman said.
“The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction. Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite during these works.”
Impacted residents will be contacted by the contractor prior to disruptions.
