A man who stole a car from a woman in Corinella read out a bizarre letter in court describing the “good” and the “evil” in the world.

Dylan Spears, 25, was sentenced at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on August 5 after pleading guilty to charges including theft.

The court heard Spears stole an $18,000 Mitsubishi Outlander from Corinella on July 22 and a drink from a 7 Eleven store in Frankston on July 23.

In a bizarre letter read out in court, Spears said he was detoxed from methamphetamine, tobacco and “almost” marijuana.

“I spent five days in my head and trust me, that’s a nightmare being that I’m so mentally active,” he said.

Spears said while he was in custody he “realised” all his “wrongs”.

“There’s yin and yang, there’s good and bad and ugly but it’s a beautiful world out there but with plenty of evil,” he said.

“Everyone has to remember every bad thing you do, should come back double but every good thing you do should come threefold on yourself, on others and on the positives of the world today.”

Spears said he suffered from mental health issues but wanted to pursue a career in drug and alcohol counselling.

He was convicted and given a community corrections order for a period of six months.
