A driver has been injured and taken to hospital after their vehicle rolled multiple times and landed on its roof in the state’s southeast.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the single-car crash on Cape Paterson-Inverloch Rd in Inverloch, near Eagles Nest, at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Units from CFA and SES responded to assist.
It’s believed a 20-year-old Wonthaggi man was driving a silver Holden Commodore sedan and was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it crashed.
Police believe the driver may have overcorrected the car due to oncoming traffic, which caused him to lose control and flip the vehicle multiple times before it hit an embankment.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the Wonthaggi man was taken to Bass Coast Health and was treated for an upper body injury in a stable condition.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing, but police believe speed and wet road surfaces may have contributed to the cause.
“Collisions such as this are avoidable, and your local police in Bass Coast and South Gippsland again ask all road users to slow down and drive according to the conditions,” a police spokesperson said.
Anyone with more information, witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is urged to contact the Inverloch police station on (03) 5674 1202 or the Wonthaggi police station on (03) 5671 4100.
