Community mourn devastating loss of hockey player William Murdoch
The community is mourning the tragic loss of a popular sportsman, son, brother, boyfriend and mate to so many who died in a car crash.

The community is mourning the loss of a beloved Richmond hockey player who was known as “cheeky” and who touched many people during his “impactful” life.
Will Murdoch, 26, died in a tragic crash in Grand Ridge in Gippsland, 183km from Melbourne, on November 7.
Mr Murdoch was the eldest son of Geoffrey and Lisa, loved brother of Emma and Samuel, partner of Charlotte Kennedy and a cherished friend to many.
A tribute written for Mr Murdoch said he was an “integral” and “treasured” part of the Murdoch and Galbraith families and is mourned by the many he touched during his “impactful” life.
“We will remember his warmth, his smile, his remarkable conversations, deep convictions, diverse interests and his sense of humour — he will be terribly missed,” the tribute read.
Friends and loved ones took to social media their thoughts and sadness.
“He was always cheeky and I’ll miss that mo shaded smile,” friend Lachy Ewart said in a Facebook post.
“I love being able to call you to help me rationalise my thoughts — I’ll miss you mate.”
“He will be missed by you and all of us … sending love,” Claire E-k commented.
“Taken too early,” Karen Kimber wrote.
“So sorry to hear — much love your way brother. I hope you’re okay,” Bill Ormonde said.
