Punters dressed to impress for another iconic country racing cup in Gippsland.

The Traralgon racecourse welcomed guests through their gates from 11.30am on Sunday for the bet365 Traralgon Cup Day, that was postponed due to the wet weather conditions the state endured at the start of the month.

Latrobe Valley Racing Club chairperson Frank Bezzina said ahead of time the team knew they would have a great race day.

“Hopefully the locals turn up and watch a really good day,” Mr Bezzina said.

“We will get a bit a of rain on Saturday which will freshen the track up.”

The first horse race commenced at 1.10pm, and general admission tickets were free.

“It’s actually worked out really good, we’re going to have a DJ and a dance floor which is really popular on race days,” Mr Bezzina said.

“We’ve got a local choir singing the national anthem before the cup which will be fun — I’m looking forward to it.”

Racegoers also had the option of entering the Laser Clinics fashions on the field competition for their chance to win some incredible prizes.

The fashion categories were best dressed ladies, best dressed men, best dressed junior and best millinery.
