Bairnsdale, Murmungee: Teen, man in hospital after two motorbike crashes in two days

A 16-year-old girl and an elderly man are in hospital after two separate motorbike crashes in Gippsland and northeast Victoria.

A teenager and an elderly man are in hospital after two separate motorbike crashes in two days.

A 16-year-old girl received upper body injuries after reportedly coming off a motorbike on a private property in Bairnsdale on Wednesday.

Paramedics were called to the Harnham Drive location about noon before the girl was taken to hospital.

It comes after emergency services were called to Jessup Lane, Murmungee on Wednesday.

Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the scene following reports a man in his 80s had come off his bike.

He is believed to be in a serious condition and was flown to hospital about 4pm.

The number of motorbike fatalities has skyrocketed in Victoria this year — 53 per cent up on the five-year average.
