Two men arrested after police find firearms in vehicle

Two men are expected to be charged after a haul of firearms was found in their vehicle in the state’s west.

Two men are likely to be charged after police seized guns, ammunition and knives from them in Great Western this morning.

Officers intercepted a vehicle on the Western Highway about 2.15am before a rifle bag was allegedly located containing a long arm rifle, ammunition, and multiple knives.

A 35-year-old Wollert man who was driving the vehicle and the passenger, a 30-year-old Kalkallo man, were arrested at the scene.

The items were seized by police and there were no injuries.

They are both assisting police with their inquiries and are expected to be charged with firearms offences.
