A Ballarat man accused of shooting another in the leg did not face court again, after refusing to be brought in for his first appearance.
Trevor Scott, 27, is charged with the shooting of a 25-year-old man from Sale at Lake Wendouree on October 1, last year.
He is facing several offences, including intentionally causing serious injury and prohibited person use firearm.
Mr Scott, who refused to front court after he was first charged and taken into custody, again did not appear in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. It is unclear why.
“If the link (video) doesn’t connect, I’ll deal with it in his absence,” Magistrate Ron Saines said.
“I’m sure Mr Scott’s not going to be too sad about missing another few minutes of court time.”
The court heard a jumper that had been seized on arrest was analysed to contain gunshot residue.
Defence lawyer Manny Brennan requested to cross-examine four witnesses, including two police officers, which was granted by Mr Saines.
No application for bail was made and Mr Scott was remanded for a contested committal hearing on April 21.
Mr Saines ordered he appear via video link for his next court date.
