St Patrick’s College mourns death of Year 7 co-ordinator Gerry Willis

A much-loved teacher at a popular Ballarat private school has left the school community in mourning after his unexpected death.

A Ballarat school is mourning the loss of a well-loved longtime staff member.

St Patrick’s College’s Year 7 co-ordinator Gerard Willis, known as Gerry to friends and family, died at home earlier this week.

It is understood classes were cancelled on Wednesday due to the death.

It’s understood the teacher has been at the school for at least 10 years, with thousands of students crossing his path.

In 2020, Mr Willis acted as the junior school director while Gavin Webb was on leave.

Upon his return, Mr Webb wrote in a newsletter to parents that Mr Willis was “a fine educator and a super organised professional”.
