School bell stolen from Newlyn Primary School in Newlyn

A missing bell is taking a toll on the students at a primary school near Ballarat. They’re now ap-peal-ing for information.

An ancient school bell has been stolen from a primary school in Newlyn, where the bell was described as a piece of the school’s history.

Newlyn Primary School discovered their school bell had been taken from the school over the weekend when they arrived Monday morning.

“Over the weekend someone has come in to school and taken a piece of our history. They have left behind a rope they have brought in. We really want it back,” the school posted on Facebook.

“If you have seen our bell or know who has it could you bring it back? You can leave it somewhere safe at school for us to find.

“People are outraged by the loss of our school bell.”

Newlyn Primary Facebook page admin Glen Clark asked the community for help in the search of the popular bell.

“I am asking for your help,” he said.

“A crime has taken place in a little township in country Victoria between Daylesford and Ballarat.

“There is a devastated community of local school children along with their families and wider community.

“With everyone’s help we may have some success in the school bell being returned. There is so much history behind this bell and the school. Please help me help the community.”
