Plans revealed for $400,000 refurbishment of The Yacht Club at Lake Wendouree

A popular cafe is getting a renovation, with plans for The Yacht Club lodged. See the renders.

A Lake Wendouree yacht club and cafe could have a $400,000 refurbishment in its future, development applications before the City of Ballarat show.

Documents reveal The Yacht Club Ballarat plans alterations and renovations to its popular

lakeside venue on Wendouree Parade.

Proposed refurbishments include relocating change rooms, upgrading and moving the kitchen, improving access to amenities, and creating a new “wet entrance”.

Other additions would include a new accessible change room, shower, and toilet, as well as better disability access to the cafe’s entrance, the addition of a new private dining area, a cool room, and the replacement of a covered boat storage spot.

The venue’s facade would boast “timber-look” aluminium cladding.

A letter from Hertiage Victoria in response to a permit exemption for the works said the proposals “do not harm the cultural heritage significance of the place”.
