NAPLAN results put Ballarat schools among best in regional Victoria

Regional Victoria’s top NAPLAN schools have been revealed. See how yours performed.

An analysis of Year 5 and Year 9 NAPLAN results puts schools in and near Ballarat among the best in regional Victoria.

To determine how each school performed in 2022, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort – Year 5 or Year 9 – were combined and the average found.

Clarendon ranked first of all regional secondary schools analysed - or seventh in the whole state - with an average result of 656.6.

In the third spot regionally was Bacchus Marsh Grammar, Ballarat Christian College was ninth, and Ballarat Grammar ended up 14th.

Several more Ballarat schools found themselves in the regional top 100, including St Patrick’s College at the 46th position, Mount Clear at the 54th, and Damascus College coming in 70th.

Clarendon College ranked third regionally in the Year 5 tests with an average score of 567.80.

It was surpassed by Harkaway Hills College in Narre Warren North and Olivet Christian College in Campbells Creek.

Harkaway Hills had better primary school results than any other school in regional Victoria, scoring an average of 592.4 across the five test subjects.

Bacchus Marsh Grammar’s Maddingley Campus ranked 12th, Dana Street Primary ranked 32nd, and St Patrick’s Primary School 88th.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
