Damien Browne remembered as ‘top bloke’ after death on farm in Crowlands
A farmer killed after a seed bag pinned him against the top of a trailer near Ararat has been remembered as a beloved friend who “always had a smile”.

A farmer who was killed on a farm near Ararat last week has been remembered as a “top bloke” who “always had a smile”.
Damien Browne died while unloading a bulk seed bag into a semi-trailer on a farm in Crowlands, northeast of Ararat, on May 25.
The 54-year-old farmer was working on a Buangor-Ben Nevis Rd property when he was found critically injured about 10am.
WorkSafe believes a seed bag shifted as it was lifted with a telehandler and Mr Browne was pinned against the top of the trailer.
He died at the scene.
Friends took to social media to express their grief.
“Such tragic news on the loss of D,” one woman said.
“My heart goes out to the most beautiful family I knew.
“Hugs to you all at this sad time.”
Another said: “RIP Damo, gunner miss you mate”.
Mr Browne was described by one man as a “top bloke, always had a smile”.
A mass was held in memory of Mr Browne on Sunday at the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Landsborough.
According to WorkSafe, the 2022 workplace fatality toll is 16, 11 fewer than at the same time last year.
