Logan and Riley Green to represent Ballarat overseas at camp

Twin brothers have their eyes set on the Premier League after earning spots in a prestigious UK training program. Read about their journey.

Two Ballarat twins head to West Ham camp

The hard work has paid off for Ballarat twin brothers Logan and Riley Green and both are now dreaming big ahead of their trip overseas.

The Forest Rangers Soccer Club duo next month will head to London to take part in a UK football tour run by Premier League giants West Ham.

The trip will see the teenagers train with multiple clubs in England as well as play games against quality opposition.

Both will also get to watch a few Premier League matches live.

The duo got picked after intense trials in Ballarat and Gold Coast where both starred in their positions of goalkeeper (Logan) and at centre-back (Riley)

Which brother is better at dribbling?

And it was inspired by a member of the family who found the opportunity of a lifetime.

“Our nan looked at a Facebook page that had West Ham foundation on it,” Riley said.

“She said would you like to sign in and we said yes.

“It started in Ballarat, went to Queensland and now we’re off to England.

“I put in a lot of hard work with training and stuff.

“I pushed myself a little bit too much but it ended up working out.”

The twins trip overseas continues their impressive year for their club in Ballarat.

Riley finished second in the reserves best and fairest at Forest Rangers, in his first full season of reserves as a 16-year-old.

Logan, in goals, kept a clean sheet whenever he played seniors or reserves during the season while playing in under-16 as well.

“We play sometimes in the same age group,” Riley said.

“When we do play in the same age group we work really well together.

“Forest is amazing, they helped us with so much throughout the years with our skills and paying for this trip.

“We can’t thank them enough.”

Both also inspire each other off the field to do better.

“We’ve always gone for a kick at our home ground together to practice with each other,” Logan said.

“We do short challenges to come against each other.

“A lot of it has been together and helping out each other.”

And their love of the game has come from their family.

Their father played for Forest Rangers while their mother’s father also played the game.

Both are now excited for the opportunity to impress overseas.

“The experience is the main part about it,” Riley said.

“It would be great to fly over there, get scouted and complete the trials.

“If it doesn’t work out the experience itself will be amazing.”

For Logan he just wants to impress, improving on the skills he already has.

“Playing games ourselves against some of the big names will be really good to experience,” he said.

“If we do make it is everyone’s dream.

“My main focus has been on fitness and my focus at home has been on handling.

“I got told to work hard, focus on handling and keep the basics up.”

The boys leave for England next month with both needing financial help to get there.
