Third person charged over death of Ballarat mum Kobie Parfitt

A third person has been charged over the murder of Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt, whose body was found in a mineshaft in December.

A third person has been charged over the alleged murder of Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt.

Detectives from the missing persons squad today charged a 35-year-old man with the murder of Ms Parfitt, whose body was found in a mine sshaft at Snake Valley in December.

The accused man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

The others charged are a 32-year-old woman and a 32-year-old Wendouree man.

Her disappearance became the focus of a major police investigation which resulted in the Snake Valley search and the tragic discovery of Ms Parfitt’s decomposed remains.

The charge comes days after detectives questioned a Ballarat man behind bars over the alleged violent murder of mum Kobie Parfitt.

Jacob Ford, 35, was questioned by missing persons squad Detective Senior Constable Jason Stewart on Wednesday morning over a period of two hours.

Brendon James Prestage, 31, is also alleged to have murdered Ms Parfitt in April last year.

A 32-year-old woman has also been charged with her murder.

Ms Parfitt’s mother Kathy Snowball, described her daughter as a “beautiful person who lost her way” during a public plea for information in November.

“I just hope that someone out there that knows something can please stop this nightmare that we’re living,” Ms Snowball said at the time.

“So that we can tell her kids to move forward, put her to rest, and so we can just remember the beautiful person that she was.”
