A Ballarat woman has been granted bail after allegedly trying to rob Bunnings before bringing her daughter to a supermarket heist and later driving at more than double the speed limit in her mother’s car.

Georgina Lynch, 45, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates’ Court from prison on December 1 facing several charges, including dangerous driving.

The court heard that on May 7, 2023, Ms Lynch and two associates allegedly went to Bunnings in Melton and began putting power tools into a trolley.

Ms Lynch was allegedly seen leaving the store with a green basket containing items from the hardware store.

A worker stopped her in the car park and recovered the stock, but Ms Lynch allegedly left in a stolen car.

The court heard that on July 18, Ms Lynch allegedly went to a Mount Clear IGA with her nine-year-old daughter.

It was said she put a basket of groceries on the floor near a cash register and left the shop, before re-entering to pick it back up and leave without paying for its contents.

About 9pm on November 3, police noticed a car with false number plates allegedly being driven by Ms Lynch in Mount Pleasant.

They turned on their lights and sirens, but Ms Lynch, who was on Eureka St at the time, allegedly failed to stop.

She is accused of accelerating to speeds exceeding 150km/h in a 60km/h zone, before getting onto the Western Freeway and going faster than 200km/h.

Ms Lynch was detained in Ballarat East after jumping fences to try to escape police.

Her car, which belonged to her mother, was impounded.

Ms Lynch was bailed and will reappear in court on December 14.
