Five police officers taken to hospital as precaution after arrested man ingests ‘substance’ and dies
The homicide squad will look into the death of a Kyneton man following his arrest and ingestion of “some kind of substance”.

Five police officers were taken to hospital as a precaution after a man who had been arrested in a central Victorian town swallowed “some sort of substance” and died on Tuesday.
Police officers arrested a 27-year-old at a property on Windridge Way in Kyneton about 2.30pm on July 2.
The man then appeared unwell, became unresponsive, and could not be revived despite officers performing CPR.
“At this early stage it appears the man may have ingested some sort of substance,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Five officers who were at the scene were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Detectives from the homicide squad will investigate the incident with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
