Eight people have died on Victorian roads in the last three days, with the latest deaths coming after a horrific collision near Daylesford.

Two people have died in a collision northeast of Ballarat, bringing the state’s road toll over the last three days to eight people.

Police believe two cars collided on the Midland Highway at Eganstown, about 20 minutes from Daylesford, just before midday on Monday.

The two occupants of one car died at the scene and the sole occupant of the other was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident increased Victoria’s road toll in the past three days to eight people.

It comes after a motorcyclist died in a collision near the Grampians on Saturday and a 43-year-old Red Lion man was killed in a crash at the intersection of Springbank Rd and Bungaree-Creswick Rd in Pootilla on Sunday.

A mother also died in a crash in Trafalgar at the weekend.

On Monday morning, there was a double fatality in Clayton South and another death on the road in Swan Hill West.

So far this year, 106 people have died on the road in Victoria, compared with 101 at the same time last year.
