Police continue to look into an attempted aggravated burglary in Ballarat East.

Three police cars and both uniformed and plain-clothes police were seen at the set of single-storey brick units on Larter Street on June 7.

Police cordoned off one of the units with police tape, and police cars parked in the driveway of the complex.

Investigators spoke to each other in the car park, but the area was otherwise quiet.

A police spokesperson said Armed Crime Squad detectives had been told a man had attempted to force entry into the address about 8.05am.

The offender allegedly failed to gain access to the residence.

They had fled from the area before police arrived.

The sole occupant of the property, a 63-year-old Ballarat East man, was not injured.

Police believe the incident was targeted, and afterwards confirmed a 36-year-old Brown Hill man had been interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
