Scott Thomas faces court over alleged attempted murder in Stawell

A driver is behind bars as two men remain in serious conditions after they were allegedly mowed down in the state’s west on Wednesday.

A man who allegedly mowed down two pedestrians with his car has fronted court for the first time to face ten serious charges, including attempted murder.

Northern Grampians police charged Stawell man Scott Thomas, 35, on Thursday with attempted murder, reckless conduct endangering life, two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of negligently causing serious injury, intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury and two counts of failing to render assistance.

It comes as two men remain in hospital in serious conditions on Friday.

Police have alleged three people were walking near Sloane St and Cooper St in Stawell about 5.20pm on Wednesday when they were struck by a maroon Toyota Corolla.

Two men from Stawell, one aged in his 50s and the other in his 20s, were taken to Melbourne hospitals with critical upper body injuries.

Mr Thomas appeared in Ararat Magistrates Court on Friday for a filing hearing.

He was remanded in custody and his case will continue at a later date.
