Ballarat
Don't miss out on the headlines from Ballarat. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Some of the best riders from Australia and around the world will be coming to Ballarat on Saturday for a new form of motorsport.
Australian SuperEnduro — an extreme form of Supercross bike racing — is set to start this weekend.
As one rider said it is a cross between Supercross and a construction site.
Racing will start at 10am and run until 6pm.
We list some of the riders to look out for ahead of the event.
Ruben Chadwick
A smoky for the podium according to SuperEnduro organiser Sam Preece. Chadwick is a Queensland based rider who finished fourth in last year’s Hard Enduro championships, which is the bush equivalent of the racing on this weekend.
Max Gerston
The Canadian finished inside the top-10 in the American EnduroCross title last year and will start the SuperEnduro as one of the favourites. Known for his moustache and his riding skills, he will be someone to watch one and off the track this weekend. Recently, he went into the Australian bush, while on tour, to have a ride. Check it out below.
Wade Ibrahim
Ibrahim finished third last year in the Hard Enduro championship, which is the same style of racing but in the bush. He only finished a handful of points behind the winner and second place. Expect him to be up for the fight this weekend.
Chris Perry
Another rider who did well at the Hard Enduro championships, finishing second in the standings. Perry is a Victorian rider who has plenty of experience in racing in Australia and overseas. He’s sure to get plenty of support.
Will Riordon
One of Australia’s leading riders heading into the event. Riordan competes with an American team and finished ninth in last year’s American EnduroCross title. He comes back to win an Australian title for the first time. In 2021, he won the EnduroCross pro junior title as the best under-21 rider. A young star on the rise.
Anthony Solar
Solar is one of Australia’s best when it comes to racing in this form out in the bush. Last year he won the Hard Enduro championship in the gold class. Expect him to be at the pointy end if he can transition to the stadium format.
Andy Wilksch
Is the reigning Australian off-road champion in the E3 class and one of Australia’s best off-road racers. He is part of the KTM professional team. How his form translates to a stadium type race will be fascinating to see over the weekend.
Spenser Wilton
An American rider who will be one of the riders to beat this weekend. He’s raced in the equivalent series in America and finished third in the expert category last season.
