“The perfect human being.”
Those are some of the words used to remember Ballarat teenager Bridie Cocks who took her own life just weeks ago.
At a moving funeral service at St Patrick’s Cathedral, mourners gathered to share memories of the “bubbly and happy” 15-year-old.
“She was the most beautiful sister anyone could ever ask for,” brother Pat said.
“I remember all the stupid faces or noises she would make at me just randomly at the dinner table while being told off …You could never talk to her seriously without her laughing.
“I wish I could have made so many more of these memories with you.”
A “best friend” and a sister, brother Riley spoke at the service of being “pretty much inseparable”.
Cousin Alana, through her tears, said Bridie was “destined to be special”.
“Bridie was a beautiful girl with the brightest smile on her face every time I saw her,” she said.
“Bridie will always be known as the curly little blonde-haired girl with the cheeky grin.”
A teenager who was known for her love of all things make-up, fake tan and beauty, friends spoke of her infectious laughter.
“She would just look at me and we would start laughing,” Michaela said.
“I don’t think I met anyone as kind until I met Bridie.
“Her smile was genuinely the most contagious thing ever.”
Childhood friend Sophie said Bridie’s was the only house she was allowed to visit when they were young but she didn’t mind because she was her “favourite”.
“I miss talking to her about everything that went on in my life and everything that went on in hers,” she said.
A “perfect human being”, Bridie always made Sophie feel “safe, happy and loved”.
“I cherish every memory, photo and video of us together,” she said.
“I miss her more than anything in this world.”
