Woman rushed to hospital after Stockland Wendouree incident

Police have laid charges after a woman was rushed to hospital following an alleged stabbing at a Ballarat shopping centre.

A woman has been charged following a reported assault at a Ballarat shopping centre.

Plain-clothed police and detectives established a crime scene and spoke with witnesses after reports a woman’s face was slashed in the car park of Stockland Wendouree Shopping Centre on Friday afternoon.

Police were seen cordoning off part of the carpark near Gillies St about 3.30pm.

Sergeant Chris Taylor told The Ballarat News a fight occurred between two women who were believed to know each other.

One allegedly produced a weapon and slashed the other to the face.

A woman in her 20s has since been charged with assault-related matters and will soon appear in court.

Ambulance Victoria took the injured woman, who was not believed to be in a critical condition, to Ballarat Base Hospital.
