Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre pool closed in 30-degree heat due to staff shortage

Ballarat’s biggest indoor pool has been forced to close on Thursday because of a staff shortage, with several isolating awaiting Covid test results.

The 50m pool at Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre has been closed for the rest of Thursday, one of the hottest days of the year so far.

The tests are unrelated to the aquatic centre.

The Brown Hill pool is closed until January 2, and Black Hill will be closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The Eureka and Buninyong pools remain open.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts maximum temperatures of 33C on Thursday, and 35C on December 31 and January 1.
