Alfredton Primary School closed after eight students test positive

Nine students have tested positive to Covid at two Ballarat primary schools as both close their doors.

Eight students have tested positive to Covid at Alfredton Primary School, it has been confirmed.

The school, which has more than 560 students, will remain closed until at least Monday October 18.

In a letter to families, Alfredton Primary School principal Laurel Donaldson said she hoped the school would reopen soon.

“Contact tracing at our school is ongoing and so, for now, our school site must stay closed,” she said.

“My thoughts and those of my staff, go out to the children and their families, and I send my best wishes to them all and wish them a speedy recovery.”

Delacombe Primary School has also confirmed a positive Covid case and will be closed on Friday.

“Please ensure that those onsite on Wednesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 14 limit their movement tomorrow (Friday),” a letter to parents said.

“If we do not contact you tomorrow to say your child has been identified as a close contact, your child should return to school on Tuesday, October 19, Monday October 18 will remain as a curriculum day.”
