A “bubbly and happy” three-month-old Cranbourne baby girl has been forced to undergo two surgeries after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour a week before Christmas.
As little Daisy spends her first Christmas in hospital, friends of her parents Sam and Shauna Clarke have started a GoFundMe page with the aim of raising $60,000 to help the family.
Family friend Daniella Avery described Daisy as a “very smiley baby”.
“It’s amazing how smiley she is, she is such a bubbly and happy baby,” she said.
“Her siblings just adore their little sister and want her to come home.”
After Daisy’s diagnosis, she was admitted to the Monash Children’s Hospital.
“The first surgery was to remove the fluid on the brain and the second surgery, which was a nine-hour marathon to remove the tumour,” Mr and Mrs Avery wrote in the fundraiser.
“Little Daisy is such a fighter and has jumped some massive hurdles already — but there is still a lot more to go.”
During this time her parents have been travelling between the hospital and their Cranbourne home where they are still making time for their two other children, Drew and Niamh.
“They have been unbelievably strong throughout this time, continuing to support Drew and Niamh, while also being there for Daisy in hospital,” Mrs Avery said.
“They are so overwhelmed and can’t believe people have been so generous.”
“Sam and Shauna do not expect anything but we all understand that bills and general life expenses continue.”
The organisers said a donation, no matter how big or small, would ease the pressure on the family
“All their friends felt so helpless and wanted to help in any way possible,” Mrs Avery said.
“I was initially going to set the target at $20,000 but the community really came together and we raised that in under 24 hours.”
There have been plenty of thoughtful messages left by those donating.
“Thinking of you babe I can’t even imagine what you guys are going through. Sending so much love,” Jessica Hughes commented.
“You’re one very strong little girl Daisy. Keep fighting. Thinking of you and your family Shauna x,” Catherine Delaney said.

“I am so sorry your family is going through this. So unfair. What a beautiful little girl. Sending all my strength x,” Laura Hyden wrote.
