Ricky Williams: Man charged with murder of Wangaratta woman Carmen Niklaus

A man accused of murdering a Wangaratta woman at a caravan park in Everton has indicated how he will plea in court.

A man accused of murdering a Wangaratta woman at a caravan park in Everton has pleaded not guilty.

Ricky Williams, 43, appeared in Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link after he was charged with murder following the death of Wangaratta woman Carmen Niklaus.

Ms Niklaus, 40, was found dead on December 6, 2021, at the Everton Caravan and Tourist Park.

Mr Williams will appear in the Melbourne Supreme Court in May for a first directions hearing. 

In January Mr Williams’ lawyer Sally Williams said he had a brain injury and was struggling with his mental health.

She said her client was not on medication and did not have drug issues, and that “he’s had great difficulty sleeping in the cells”.
