An Albury man allegedly sent an email with an attached picture of his ex-girlfriend wearing lingerie to her dad’s workplace — the Wodonga Council — falsely accusing her of being a “sex worker”.

Michael Mizzi, 36, was refused bail in the Supreme Court late last month over stalking, harassment and other charges.

The court heard after his two-year relationship ended he allegedly threatened to poison her cats, torched her new boyfriend’s car and sent an explicit email to her father that was opened by “many” council staff.

Mr Mizzi’s ex had entered a new relationship — four years after their split — before Mr Mizzi allegedly set her new partner’s car on fire at her residence.

In the following months, Mr Mizzi is accused of sending abusive and derogatory voicemails and emails to his ex and her new partner.

Mr Mizzi allegedly contacted his ex’s workplace and submitted an online complaint about her customer service.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mr Mizzi on May 18 2021.

He was arrested by police at his Albury residence the following day.

Court documents state Mr Mizzi had “led a chaotic life,” and that he was a frequent user of meth and cannabis.

Mizzi submitted to the court that in his view, meth use was the explanation for his aggressive, dangerous and abusive conduct.

He was refused bail to appear at Wodonga Magistrate’s Court on March 8 for special mention.
