Wodonga gym owners say members have come flooding back now that gyms can have up to 20 people inside to train.
After months of being left out as restrictions eased for other industries, gyms can open their doors to a maximum of 20 people indoors at a time, with 10 people per space as of 11.59pm tonight.
Owner of Urban Fitness HQ, Tammie Hasler, said she was very excited to finally have a win.
“There’s been a lot of ups and downs and then everyone else opening around us when we thought we were going to,” Ms Hasler.
“The first time around we went back when beauty went back, but this time hair and beauty went back but we were left behind.
“We can have 10 people per class, but we are still inside which is better than nothing, so we’ll take our wins.”
She said she had already had members calling and messaging wanting to come back to classes.
“Spirits are very high,” Ms Hasler said.
“Now that we’re back inside we’re going back to our usual roster of classes from before COVID-19.”
Co-owner of CrossFit TMA Zak Rogers said members were “chomping at the bit” to get involved in indoor classes.
“We’re stoked – it feels good, really good,” Mr Rogers said.
“There’s a bit of work to do today and tomorrow they’ll all be back in here using the gym for what it was built for.
“Now that we’re heading back inside a lot of members who paused will be keen to get back into their fitness and their health.”
CrossFit TMA will be increasing their classes from four per day to six per day, with 10 people per class, to accommodate for more members coming back now restrictions on gyms have eased.
Manager of F45 Wodonga Gudi Gigliotti said she was excited to see restrictions move in a positive direction.
“I’m very excited,” Ms Gigliotti said.
I’m very excited, I’m just not sure if we’re allowed 10 or 20 in our space, but once we get on top of that it’ll be really good.
“With the state opening up I’m hoping they might ease them off a little bit more so we’re not as limited.
“It’s a very controlled environment and the risk is very minimal.”
Previously F45 Wodonga had been holding outdoor classes in the park, and Ms Gigliotti had just set up a shipping container in the park to store the gym’s equipment.
“We got it all organised and then on Sunday we heard the announcement, so we packed the shipping container up and brought it all back to the gym,” she said.
“We weren’t expecting that announcement at all.”
