A drunk Jindera driver decided to drown his sorrows after he crashed into a tree in Lavington and kept drinking until police arrived.
Dylan Jeffrey Swain-Reynolds, 23, pleaded guilty to mid-range drink driving at Albury Local Court on June 21.
Court documents show Swain-Reynolds was driving at 50km/h on Hague St when he failed to make a right turn, and crashed into a tree about 6.01am on May 22.
The impact of the crash caused the silver Honda Accord to spin out of control and come to a stop blocking both lanes.
When the tow truck driver arrived, however, the court heard he told the drunk driver that police were not likely to show up because no one was injured.
So the man kept drinking — having already drunk 500ml of whisky over 10 hours at his mate’s house.
But he told police he only had a “nip” more — about 30ml — before they arrived.
Swain-Reynolds recorded an alcohol reading of 0.108.
He will return to court on July 19.
