An 18-year-old man has been assaulted during an attempted robbery in Lavington.
The teen was walking along Douglas Rd, Lavington, when he was approached by two unknown men about 8.20pm on Wednesday, March 17.
Police believe the men punched the teen in the face before demanding cash and trying to grab his mobile phone from his pocket.
The men continued to kick and threaten the teen before the pair fled on foot, empty-handed, towards Kemp St.
The teen suffered soreness to his jaw and leg and was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require further medical treatment.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Stoltenberg said police were still looking for the offenders who were described as wearing dark hooded jumpers.
“We don’t want people living in fear that they can’t go out and walk down the street,” Chief Insp Stoltenberg said.
“We’ve got to remember that we’re dealing with a minority in the community who go and do things like this.
“We want to stamp it out, we want to get rid of it, we don’t need it in our area.
“I cannot urge the community enough — if you know anything about this matter, if you are aware of who may have been involved, if you have CCTV at your home that could assist in that area, I would urge you to come forward and to contact police or Crime Stoppers.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact Albury police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
