A grub slid his hand down an underaged girl’s pants and grabbed her breasts on at least seven occasions after a game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Daniel Thompson repeatedly slid his hand down an underaged girl’s pants and grabbed her breasts.

An underage girl developed an eating disorder after a grub sexually abused her and told her he had demons in him after playing the game Dungeons and Dragons, a court heard.

Daniel Thompson fronted the County Court on Friday where he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, to be followed by a two-year community corrections order.

He pleaded guilty in December to six charges of sexual assault and one of sexual penetration of a child in Victoria’s northeast.

Judge Liz Gaynor said on multiple occasions between July 2018 and July 2020, Thompson either tried to or pushed his hand down to the victim’s vagina after a game of Dungeons and Dragons.

On one occasion in mid 2019, Thompson encouraged her to masturbate him despite her repeated refusal and on another occasion, he made her sit on his lap and kissed her cheek.

“You told her you had demons in you and that you were helping her get ready for sexual experience when she was in a relationship,” Judge Gaynor said.

She said among the other abuses perpetrated by Thompson was calling her a whore while touching her body and rubbing her vagina on top of her underwear from about five minutes then stopping and accusing her of not enjoying it.

Thompson also tried to put his tongue into her mouth and when she tried to push him away, he digitally penetrated her.

Judge Gaynor said the girl developed an eating disorder.

She suffered nightmares, feared Thompson may kidnap her, has panic attacks and muscle spasms.

“No doubt you groomed her and subjected her to emotional and sexual abuse which continues to affect her. Your offending was serious and protracted,” the judge said.

Although Thompson has no priors, has undertaken counselling and suffered no deviant sexual proclivity, she said a non-custodial sentence alone was insufficient to mark the seriousness of his offending.
