The Albury hospital and courthouse have both scored cash injections for major makeovers.

The State Government has allocated $9.52 million to the next instalment on the Albury Hospital Emergency Department rebuild, and $5 million to Albury Courthouse for renovations and upgrades including essential capacity upgrades, additional custodial courtrooms, judge’s chambers amenities, jury assembly space, and refurbishment of the registry.

The budget also allocated $2.8 million for the Corowa saleyards development.

More than $3 million was allocated for social housing improvement, supply, and upgrades, and $386,000 allocated to deliver new and upgraded quality social and affordable housing for Aboriginal communities.

State member for Albury Justin Clancy said the Albury electorate would also benefit from other major programs funded in the budget.

“I look forward to taking these opportunities to councils and business operators to continue the flow of funding which we have enjoyed,” Mr Clancy said.

“I have invited the Attorney-General and Minister for Domestic Violence to come to Albury next week, where we will have discussions about support for programs helping people deal with DFV issues.

“The border community took on the challenges of border closure and restrictions with good grace and with fortitude.

“In six days‘ time the border with Victoria will reopen and we will be able to connect with family and friends once again.

“Thank you to everyone in our border community for doing your part to help make this a reality in a world still torn by uncontrolled spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

To help boost the state economy half a billion dollars will go out to the community in the form of vouchers to the value of $100 per adult to contribute to the cost of eating out and going out in NSW.

Payroll tax adjustment will help business owners keep more money in their pockets, with the tax threshold rising to $1.2 million and a two-year reduction in the rate from 5.45 per cent to 4.85 per cent.

This Budget also commits $472 million to provide small and medium businesses which do not pay payroll tax with a $1500 digital voucher for the cost of state government fees and charges.
