Jessica Crow has had a dream since she was 16 years old – to open her own art studio.
when she moved to Albury from the US four years ago after fleeing a violent relationship, she took up work doing digital marketing for the Women’s Centre for Health and Wellbeing, where she also taught art classes.
A mother of two, with another on the way, her passion for art had been pushed to the side until the stresses of the pandemic inspired her to dive back in to what she loves, finally opening her own art studio – The Painting Raven.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to teach people and have my own studio space,” Ms Crow said.
“I think for the community, especially during this time, we need more things like this that allow people to have a creative outlet.
“It gives them something to do, gets them out of the house, and it’s constructive.
“This is something wholesome to offer the community.”
The Painting Raven, on Olive St, will be offering painting classes including acrylic pour, charcoal classes, sketch classes, life model classes, as well as side-by-side class for couples or friends where BYO is welcome.
Ms Crow said she will still be working in digital marketing as well as running her art studio, and will still be running the women’s classes on a Friday.
“I’ve really enjoyed being able to help people that are going through the same thing I went through,” she said.
“So I’ll still be doing art classes for them.”
