Aidan Mayall, 34, jailed for producing hundreds of child abuse material

An online Melbourne creep who targeted underage girls on Snapchat saved child abuse material into folders named after his victims’ online usernames.

An online creep used a screen recording app to save hundreds of sexual interactions with underage girls before saving them into folders named after his victims’ snapchat profiles, a court has heard.

Aidan Mayall, 34, was thrown behind bars on Tuesday after pleading guilty to more than 20 child abuse charges spanning over a year and involving seven female victims aged under 16, with the youngest being 11.

The County Court heard one mobile phone had two folders called “The Sauce” and “Gollum 2” which contained more than 200 files of child abuse material, including photos and videos of girls aged between 13 and 16 performing solo sexual acts.

Police also found material found in folders named after his victims’ Snapchat usernames.

It was also revealed that Mayall possessed material of two other “unknown children” downloaded from other apps.

Appearing at his sentence via video link, Mayall only spoke to alert the court that the lights in the prison had gone out.

“The guards said they’re aware of it and are coming down to sort it out,” he told Judge Trevor Wraight KC.

The court heard police seized a total of 924 child abuse images and videos from six devices, with Mayall screen recording interactions with his victims where he pretended to be a teenage boy.

It was revealed that during psychiatric interviews, Mayall admitted that he “focused” on young girls because they would be “easier to manipulate”.

The content he saved included chatlogs with his victims as well as images and videos of his victims engaging in sexual activity.

The court heard he saved about 580 images of interactions with one 13-year-old victim.

It was revealed that Mayall engaged in “online sexual activity” with several of his victims which involved him masturbating while on a video call.

One disturbing interaction involved Mayall masturbating while his victim urinated on the floor.

Prosecutors submitted that Mayall had “procured his victims for online sexual activity” through the video calls, with his screen recording of interactions falling under producing child abuse material.

The court heard that Mayall saved one of his victims’ locations on Snapchat which he then searched online.

In sentencing, Judge Wraight said Mayall “took advantage of immature victims (he) had built a level of trust with”.

“It is not relevant that (the victims) may have appeared to enjoy the attention or exploring their sexuality”.

His Honour described the offending as “not isolated but regular” and that Mayall “encouraged victims to send (him) explicit images and videos”.

Mayall was convicted and sentenced to seven years and eight months, with four years and six months non-parole.
