Miley Cyrus’ TikTok fan event at the iconic Chateau Marmont in Hollywood got extra special when a couple got engaged.
A romantic proposal stole the show with the couple getting engaged, prompting Cyrus to chime in on the moment.
“Noooo,” the singer is heard shouting with happiness in the video. “Get a bed, charge it to my card.”
It comes as Cyrus revealed that a rare health condition prevents her from touring on a large scale.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music show, the superstar said that she has a condition called Reinke’s edema, which gives her voice a unique, raspy tone — but also prevents her from sustained touring.
“It’s a part of my unique anatomy,” Cyrus revealed, adding that she has a “very large polyp”, which is an abnormal tissue growth, on her vocal chord.
“[It’s] given me a lot of the tone and texture that has made me who I am, but it’s extremely difficult to perform with because it’s like running a marathon with ankle weights on,” she said.
Cyrus also added that her wilder days haven’t helped the condition.
“My voice always sounded like this,” she said, “But being 21 and staying up and drinking and smoking and partying after every show does not help, but also in my case it does not cause it.”
Cyrus said that when she feels overtired, her mother, Tish, says that she sounds like she is “talking through a radio”.
“It creates that, like, ultimate vocal fry, and so I do have this blessing of a condition that I live with. My voice is super unique because of it.”
Cyrus said she will not undergo surgery to “sever” the polyp on her vocal chord because she doesn’t want to risk the chance of “not sounding like [herself]”.
Cyrus said she is taking other measures to not strain her vocal chords, which includes not performing live as much as her millions of fans around the world would like.
The pop superstar said that touring globally would be a delicate balancing act, as it has to be done “in a way that is sustainable,” allowing her to sing without it being too “taxing”.
She also explained that if she doesn’t do a certain amount of concerts, then it won’t “mathematically make sense” to do the tour because she’ll be unable to pay the costs required for the crew and other expenses.
In a video posted to TikTok in 2023, Cyrus said she avoided touring because long tours aren’t “healthy” for her.
“What people don’t really understand about touring is the show is only 90 minutes, but that’s your life. If you’re performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest,” Cyrus said at the time.
“There’s a level of ego that has to play a part, that I feel gets overused when I’m on tour and once that switches on, it’s hard to turn it off. And I think when you’re training your ego every single night to be active, that’s the hardest switch for me to turn off,” she added.
“Having every day the relationship between you and other humans being subject and observer isn’t healthy for me, because it erases my humanity and my connection and without my humanity [and] my connection I can’t be a songwriter, which is my priority.”
Cyrus has also opened up about other recent health battles.
She also told Lowe that she had a “pretty traumatic experience” when performing on New Year’s Eve because she had an ovarian cyst rupture, while during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the US, she revealed that her “leg began to disintegrate around the kneecap area” after she rolled around on the floor of the Hollywood Walk of Fame for one of her latest music videos.
She said, “By November at Thanksgiving, I was put in the ICU for a moment — just for a moment.”
