Victoria’s richest man earns title of ultimate Met Gala photobomber

It’s not easy standing out in a room full of peacocks, but cardboard king Anthony Pratt didn’t go unnoticed as he bobbed up in the background of celebrities’ red carpet snaps.

Victoria’s richest man has become the ultimate Met Gala photo bomber, bobbing up in the background as the stars converge on what’s dubbed the Oscars of fashion.

It’s not easy standing out in a room full of peacocks and preeners, with the world’s most glamorous stars making their way up the Baz Luhrmann-designed “garden of time”-inspired staircase for Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s annual gala to raise funds for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

But Anthony Pratt’s flaming red hair paired with a hot pink jacket paired with dusty pink pants meant the Australian cardboard king was always going to be seen for the Met’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition.

Pratt’s pink jacket was hard to miss as he wandered through the back of shots.

We are sure Pratt is not used to having to line up, but the Visy patriarch was seen waiting patiently as “TikTok’s best dressed man” Wisdom Kaye took to the carpet.

He was again seen in the background as Sarah Jessica Parker, in Richard Quinn and a bespoke headpiece from Philip Tracey, spoke to the Vogue red carpet with her date, Bravo’s Andy Cohen.

Pratt is a past Met Gala regular, attending last year’s Karl Lagerfeld theme with glamorous sister Heloise Pratt.

Pratt joined a cavalcade of our gumleaf mafia on the Met Gala carpet, including Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Naomi Watts, Troye Sivan, Ben Simmons in Thom Browne carrying a clock big clock briefcase and Met Gala co-chair Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky in Tom Ford.

Kidman wore a Balenciaga recreation, originally from 1951, after the Oscar-winning actor first saw the monochrome gown in a Richard Avedon photograph.

“I saw it in an Avedon photo and had (Balenciaga creative designer) Demna reinterpret it. It’s in the vein of sleeping beauty. I consider it a sleeping beauty we have brought back to life,” Kidman said on the red carpet.

“I’m so looking forward to having fun with friends. Celebrating fashion and art and supporting the museum and beautiful designers that give and their creations and keeping those dreams alive.

“I look forward to the music, as well, and so does my husband.”
