Sharon Johal has revealed she knocked back the chance to appear on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in the pursuit of more acting opportunities.
Johal, who appeared on The Block, has landed a part in the new Zac Efron film Ricky Stanicky following on from her role in crime series Shantaram starring Charlie Hunnam.
“While I was very flattered to be asked to be on I’m a Celeb, my priority will always be working as a professional actor and I’m very excited about the opportunities I’ve worked so hard for both locally and overseas,’’ Johal said.
“I look forward to working with Channel 10 again soon.”
Johal says her goal is to head to the US after playing an array of roles including a CNN anchor on Ricky Stanicky, a Detective, a brothel owner and a cafe owner in Neighbours.
“That’s the whole joy of acting is immersing yourself in a whole different personality,’’ she said.
Johal was part of a panel at the Fashion Weekend Live Stage at Emporium, alongside Victoria Latu and Jordy Lucas. She will be a guest across the Melbourne Fashion Festival this week.
