Swimmer Emily Seebohm and MAFs star Ryan Gallagher are engaged, a year after they met on the set of a reality TV show.

Swimmer Emily Seebohm and reality TV star Ryan Gallagher are engaged within a year of meeting on Channel 10’s series, The Challenge.
After confirming their relationship at the end of last year, off the back of the reality show airing, the couple have announced in Woman’s Day that they are engaged.
Gallaher took the Brisbane swimmer to his farm outside Goulburn, NSW, where he proposed by the dam.
“When you know, you know … I thought it was the right spot to do it – she loves the horses and she often swims in the dam,” he told Woman’s Day.
“I did get nervous though. The [ring] box was making a bit of a bulge in my pocket. So either she knew I was proposing or she just thought I was happy to see her.”
Seebohm had previously endured public heartbreak amid the breakdowns of high profile relationships with fellow swimmer Mitch Larkin followed by Brisbane radio star David ‘Luttsy’ Lutteral.
Despite being in a new relationship when filming for The Challenge began last year, she developed romantic feelings for Gallagher over the course of the show and subsequently ended her relationship when she arrived home.
Seebohm was then able to pursue a relationship with the former Married At First Sight star.
“Obviously it wasn’t a nice call to make, but I told him what was going on and that there was something there with Ryan and I didn’t see the point in wasting any more time,” she told Woman’s Day.
Gallagher proposed with a trilogy diamond from Goulburn’s Zantis Jewellers.
“It’s perfect – I’m so happy,” she said. “It definitely had a Ryan flair to it and it’s something I’ll cherish forever.”
The pair plan to marry in Queensland in the next few years after a big engagement party.
