UK MAFS groom goes viral for awkward prank

Married At First Sight star Melissa Rawson has shared the devastating reason she was forced to delete a family video from social media in an emotional new post.

Rawson is married to her reality TV co-star Bryce Ruthven and the pair share twin boys – and she regularly shares glimpses into their home life on Instagram. While many of her 200,000-plus followers are supportive, the 35-year-old revealed she’s also been relentlessly targeted by trolls.

According to Rawson, the commentary around her latest post crossed the line.

“They were trolling people that followed me, so I removed it because no one deserves that,” she explained in the video, adding that she was now going to reduce the parenting content she shares online.

“I won’t share much content with the twins any further, no one needs to be attacked for supporting me. I can’t stand people who send vile messages.”

Rawson went on to post a clip of herself on her bed with her dog and a book, along with the caption: “Me existing knowing I’m trolled frequently, threatened occasionally but supported immensely.”

Rawson and Ruthven were one of the most controversial couples on the 2020 season of Nine’s dating reality show, but proved their critics wrong by staying together well beyond the show.

They announced their engagement along with their baby news in mid-2021 and welcomed their sons in October of that year.

The couple officially tied the knot in February 2023.

Ruthven opened up about being unofficially cast as the “villain” on the series during an appearance in Melbourne in late 2021.

“We knew what the truth was from day one but unfortunately the country got fooled,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“They have to have a villain and for some reason I got picked out.”

Rawson added that she wasn’t “overly happy” with their depiction on MAFS, but understood that they were “making a television show” and needed it to be entertaining.
