MAFS: Husband's shocking admission about punch at dinner

A Married At First Sight husband throws a punch during a fight with his wife on Wednesday night while another bride is accused of obstructing “truth and justice” after breaking “the rules of humanity”.

Cue the Law & Order “dun-dun” sound effect!

We’re 20 episodes into this year’s season and things are clearly on track.

As everyone gets ready for another drunken dinner party, we barge into Carina and Paul’s suite at Trash Towers. We’re hoping to finally solve the mystery of what’s going on with Paul’s hairline, but he’s not there.

Apparently, he spent the night in a separate apartment. That’s when we notice a hole in the wall. The Trash Towers suite has been trashed.

“Last night, Paul and I were coming back from a day out with Jeff and Rhi in the Uber,” Carina explains.

“And in the Uber, I was putting on music. And I put on a song and I made the comment that I’ve slept with this rapper.”

The revelation of a celebrity fling set Paul off.

“Paul got offended by it and felt disrespected in how I said it,” she says. “He was quite upset. And instantly I was like, ‘I’m so sorry’.”

At home, she tried cuddling him but he was still annoyed. She rolled over in bed and prepared to sleep.

“And that’s when he got really angry and punched the wall,” she says. “It escalated really quickly. And I was just in shock. And he left.”

Suddenly, Paul enters the suite. Before we can inform him that he will not be receiving his rental bond back, he breaks down.

“I feel so ashamed and so remorseful,” he sobs.

“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry! I should’ve never reacted that way! I promise you that’ll never happen again! I was so angry at that comment in the cab. I felt so uncomfortable and disrespected. I felt like an idiot.”

He knows what he did was wrong but it also seems like he’s low-key blaming Carina for making him angry.

We immediately run across the hall to seek legal advice from Jacqui KC, but she’s swamped with another case involving Rhi.

“I want to address what Rhi has done to me,” she says vengefully.

She’s still thinking about last week’s incident — where Rhi got miffed because Jacqui messaged Rhi’s husband behind her back and tried organising a secret catch-up.

Jacqui is furious that Rhi retaliated by publicly exposing her in front of the experts at the commitment ceremony.

“It’s a crime against humanity!” Jacqui declares. “So, she thinks I broke girl code? I think she broke the rules of humanity. People deserve to know the truth. And her assumptions are getting in the way of truth and justice in this case.”

How dare Rhi obstruct truth and justice! She’ll rue the day she messed with Jacqui KC!

“She ridiculed me, shamed me, humiliated me,” Jacqui continues to practice her opening remarks for the pending trial.

“I’ve got a lecture for Rhi about respect. I’ve got a lecture about truth. And I’ve got a lecture about … ah … um … what’s my other lecture about? Um … But anyway. I’ve got a lot of things I wanna educate Rhi on.”

Well, it sounds like this case is watertight. We’ll see you in court, Rhi.

At the dinner party, Jacqui prepares to address the jury but Paul hijacks the trial to fess up to his act of property vandalism.

“I did something that I absolutely regret. Something that is absolutely unacceptable,” he tells the group.

“I threw a punch in our bedroom door. I lost control and I punched a hole in the bedroom door. It’s unacceptable and disgusting. I’ve never done that before in my life.”

The experts, watching on from their lair, are shocked.

“This is serious. Very serious,” John Aiken sighs, but stops short of actually doing anything about it.

Carina jumps in to defend her husband.

“He doesn’t treat me incorrectly. I wasn’t scared,” she says. “I’m not scared to be in the apartment with him. I won’t accept it or tolerate it, but he understands what he has done. He’s taking accountability. And I forgive him.”

Sounds like Paul needs to be punished with one of Jacqui’s lectures.

Jacqui gears up to start prosecuting, but attention is diverted again when the group gangs up on Adrian. They demand to know: How has he been making an effort with Awhina this week?

“I said, ‘Hey, come from a walk’,” he mumbles. “That was me trying to make an effort.”

She’s not a dog, Adrian!

Has he even bothered to take her out to a nice dinner?

“Yeah, we went to Nandos,” he mumbles.

Everyone laughs at him until he has no choice but to storm out of the party to escape the ridicule.

Meanwhile, Morena tries to turn the group against Tony by telling them the news of his fake baby. The move backfires. Her rant only pushes Tony to tell her the cold hard truth about why he wants to break up.

“Your personality gives me the s**ts, man,” he says.

Suddenly, a fake baby doesn’t seem so offensive.

Finally, Jacqui takes the floor.

“I’m sick of being a doormat, I’m gonna stand up for myself,” she pledges.

Everyone groans.

“Let my wife talk! Let my wife talk!” Ryan scolds them.

We all boo and hiss and throw our bread rolls at him.

“I feel like the whole texting Jeff situation, you took it too far,” Jacqui tells Rhi. “I apologised for that. And I actually didn’t owe you an apology.”

The jury scoffs and gets unruly. Order in the court!

“You humiliated me in front of everyone, now let me speak!” Jacqui exclaims.

Rhi throws up her hands and rolls her eyes. She wants this ridiculous drama to be done.

Settling out of court, she agrees to pay damages in the form of a public apology.

Jacqui classifies this as a win and warns Rhi to govern herself accordingly moving forward.

Case closed.
