I’m A Celebrity viewers’ horror at gruesome Nick ‘Honey Badger’ scene

A grisly challenge gone wrong involving Nick “Honey Badger” Cummins on I’m A Celeb last night has left viewers horrified. WARNING: Graphic

Viewers have reacted with horror to a gruesome challenge on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here last night, which saw Nick “The Honey Badger” Cummins attacked by a large python.

The former rugby great, 35, was tasked with blindly sticking his hand into a box housing the snake during Tuesday night’s episode.

Cummins appeared – understandably – terrified as he waited for the hissing python to react, commenting nervously to hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris that: “He doesn’t look happy, either.”

He wasn’t wrong: The animal quickly struck, clamping its jaw around his hand before wrapping its entire body around his arm as Cummins grimaced in pain.

The sickening scene was quickly branded “confronting” by those watching on at home, with plenty calling for Cummins to be awarded extra stars for his efforts:

“Let’s go! Oh, my goodness,” Morris could be heard shouting to the show’s crew in the background, while Brown asked: “Are you OK?”

Cummins’ bleeding hand then became apparent, prompting a medic to be called and a snake handler brought in to detach the animal from his arm.

Cummins was treated for his injury by a medic.

“He’s alright. I thought his skin might have been a bit tougher being a honey badger. I think we’ll be good,” the doctor joked.

Incredibly, Cummins quickly recovered from the horrifying incident and went on to take part in the next challenge, winning 10 stars out of a possible 13.

And he’s not the first I’m A Celeb star to cop a snake bite on the show: Actress and singer Toni Pearen was repeatedly bitten on the face by multiple snakes as she participated in a challenge on the 2021 season.
