Reggie wins Big Brother for 2022

Tipped to take out Big Brother a second time, series favourite Reggie Bird is urging fans to vote.

Speaking with The Latch, the 48-year-old contestant jokingly said she isn’t feeling confident that she will win.

“To be honest, I’m up against some tough competition, you know,” she told the outlet.

“I just don’t wanna get that in my head and then be let down at the end there. And because people have gotta vote, that’s the biggest thing, to get me over the line.”

Bird added she’s “worried people are gonna be complacent” and that her fellow contestants Johnson Ashak and Taras Hrubyj-Piper will sneak in and secure votes.

“I’m up against tough competition, and they just have to get on and vote,” she said.

“I’ve played an honest game, and you know, I did the best that I could. And I’m funny, and I’m good, and I did it for my kids! This one’s for the kids!.”

The then 29-year-old fish and chip shop owner won the series back in 2003, taking home $250,000.

Since Big Brother Season 3, Bird has been twice divorced and is mum to two children, Mia, 15, and Lucas, 12. The former flight attendant has also faced personal challenges.

Her son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at four weeks old while she suffers from a degenerative eye condition that has left her legally blind.

The Big Brother Season 14 contender said this year’s $250,000 prize money would be a game-changer for her and her family.

“I just want a roof over our heads for me and the kids, so that’s what I’d be using the money for, and also that’s gonna help pay for Lucas’ medication,” she said.

“It’s mainly for me and the kids to just have some kind of security and stability.”

Apart from the prize, Bird told The Latch it would be “awesome” to be the show’s first two-time winner.

“To make history, to win it twice, what a better housemate to do it than me?!” she said.

“I know that sounds w*nky, but to win it twice would be an absolute dream come true and an honour, to keep the crown on Reggie’s head would be amazing.”
