Superstar singer Robbie Williams says he’s “totally hooked and totally in” on football ahead of his headline performance at the AFL grand final on Saturday.

Williams went through a full rehearsal of his 19-minute set at the MCG on Thursday, when he confirmed that pop princess Delta Goodrem would join him for a duet before the game.

The pair will perform Kids, the hit Williams recorded with Aussie star Kylie Minogue.

“I’m honoured to announce Australia’s own, who is the loveliest person, both inside and out, the beautiful and incredibly talented Miss Delta Goodrem,” Williams said.

Turning to footy, he said: “I haven’t picked a team for Saturday. I do know a little bit about footy, I did see the Swans’ semi-final and I thought it was an incredible advert for the sport.

“I have not picked a team fully … I don’t want the other half to boo me when I’m singing.

“I did open the World Cup and that was quite scary to do. That was a big deal. This will be like that but I’m in Australia so I’ll be more relaxed.

“I love the MCG, it’s an incredible venue and I’m honoured to be playing it, honoured to be part of the occasion.”

He was told The Killers performed a post-show concert when the Tigers won the flag in 2017. “I’m not ruling it out if The Killers did it,’’ he said. “Gill, sign me up.”

Williams said he would have a massage before performing and then “let’s go”.

On football he added: “I would explain it to be a sport that is incredibly entertaining.

“The rest of the world deserves to know about this sport because it’s easy to get hooked.

“They’re athletes, they’re sportsmen, they’re tuned for this. I can’t give them any sort of advice, I know the best team will be the victors.”

Goodrem, who danced with AFL boss Gillon McLachlan at the pre-match function two weeks ago, is a big Swans fan.

The pop princess won over fans with her stunning performance of the national anthem two weeks ago and also dancing with AFL boss Gillon McLachlan in the pre-match function.

“It’s a full circle moment to come and play at the Grand Final with Robbie Williams who we all love and I’m stoked to be able to have a great time and celebrate this great game.

“It was the dancing, after we had a great dance, (Gil) said maybe we should have a sing and I’m really looking forward to it.”

It comes after speculation that Minogue may reunite with Williams, to perform their duet.

The AFL will reveal all on Thursday at a press conference with UK superstar Williams at the MCG.

Goodrem will be joined at the game between Sydney and Geelong by chart-topping Aussie singer Tones and I and an invitation has been extended to touring superstar Billie Eilish, who has shows in Melbourne across the weekend.

Retired tennis ace Ash Barty will also be in Melbourne at the grand final.

Before the Melbourne-Brisbane final, Goodrem left McLachlan breathless as he twirled her into a dip that drew a rousing applause from AFL invited guests.

The national anthem performance sent footy fans into a spin after Goodrem’s efforts quickly saw her become a trending topic on Twitter.

Collingwood ruckman Mason Cox was a huge fan with many calling for her to come back for the grand final.

Goodrem famously got her big break courtesy of the Sydney Swans when one of her early demo tapes was sent to team supporter, the late Glenn Wheatley.

Victorian Tones and I is performing at the opening ceremony of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney and the Dance Monkey star has a deep passion for the sport but is keen on being part of the AFL grand final footy experience.
