Smoking a durry in your boardies and wife-beater singlet with a stubbie holder is the usual Victoria Bitter connotation.
But all that has changed following the VB-green runway for the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
The Victoria Bitter collab with Brunswick based designers Strateas Carlucci was such a showstopper, they will feature again in Saturday night’s grand, grand finale, think 5000 tickets for a runway down Margaret Court Arena.
Other homegrown favourites such as Jason Grech and Sonia Cappellazzo will also appear in the closing show extravaganza, with the two designers still holed up in their ateliers with finishing touches and thigh splits to perfect.
Federation Square never looked so cool this week, with a spectacle of pinks, platforms and Prada descending for the ready-to-wear runways staged each night.

The MFF board director and winner of the National Designer of the Year in 2019, is credited with, excuse us for using an overused farshun pun (we might scream if we hear sustainability, diversity, representation or inclusivity again) to elevate the modern Australian man, with soft tailoring and casual streetwear.
It was the menswear runway 4 on Thursday night which really brought the vibe. Breakdancing down the runway followed the opening of the sophisticated suit from Dom Bagnato to Stevie Wonder’s Superstitious, with local streetwear brand HoMie closing the show to much applause.
Nobody Denim’s founder and chief executive John Condilis sat on the FROW alongside his fellow menswear designer cohort, with a real camaraderie and even some knee slapping between them.
But the love-in continued for the women, with A-list stylist Stuart Walford returning from the David Jones gala opening night for Runway 3, closing with psychedelic ’70s inspired looks from Alice McCall.
And who can forget the influencers who were well and truly in their rightful habitat.
PayPal ambassador and stylist Jamie Azzopardi defined “extra” with his many ensembles, most memorably a Carrie Bradshaw-on-the-bed-in-Paris inspired Carla Zampatti skirt in which he was glad wrapped.
It takes a team of at least eleven to get the look. Fabulous, just fabulous.
