SHE may have been shunned by Australian basketball but China is opening its arms and its pockets to Liz Cambage.

Page 13 can reveal the former Opals star has reportedly signed a $1 million deal for a three-month playing contract in China next year with the Sichuan women’s team based in Chengdu.

The mega-deal is also believed to include significant bonuses, including a title, but Cambage was reluctant to discuss the details.

“I have always loved my time in China and I am really looking forward to getting out onto the court again,” she said.

“It’s one of the strongest leagues in the world and I have played many seasons there over the years.

“Some of the best players in the world play in the league and it will be great to meet my teammates and the whole support team very soon.

“They have a great successful culture of embracing and backing everyone which is why they have been so successful as a club.”

Chengdu, which is in central China and close to the Mongolia border, is famous for its panda bear breeding program which has become a major tourist attraction.

Cambage has become one of the more polarising figures in Australian sport and for the past few years has based herself in Los Angeles after falling out with the national team following a notorious blow-up during a practice match against Nigeria in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics. After an altercation on court, Cambage was king-hit from the sidelines as her Opals teammates just watched on.

But the statuesque beauty has moved on from the controversy, mixing it with the who’s who of Hollywood.

Cambage, 32, has become close friends with Kanye West and his Melbourne bride Bianca Censori and is certainly part of the “it’ Tinseltown pack.

She has also recently joined the increasing number of celebrities and athletes appearing on Only Fans where she has quickly become a star attraction.

The China contract is a significant move following a recent stint in the prominent league in Israel. The Chinese contract confirms she remains a global hot property.

Cambage walked away from the Opals before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics citing mental health issues following the Nigerian incident and left mid season while playing for the LA Sparks in the WNBA. She will not play with the Opals at Paris Olympics.

With this new seven figure deal, Cambage has slam dunked Basketball Australia.
