When a big international music act comes to town, what’s the first thing everyone wants to know?
Where’s the secret show.
Well, the whispering campaign about Katy Perry’s whereabouts when she hits Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final are in overdrive.
The pop superstar arrives on her private jet next week and Page 13 is feeling all sparkly and jazz hands at the hushed tones about the singer’s first rumoured gig.
Yes it’s all sequins and rainbow Firework with word among our bona fide kweeeens that Perry is first hitting Chapel St hotspot Poof Doof for a secret album release party on Thursday night before the AFL’s big dance.
The Roar singer has a huge LGBTQ following and the Chapel St venue, the former Chasers nightclub, is the place to go when overseas singers want to get their groove on, just ask Sporty Spice aka Melanie C.
She will be in good company, resident DJ, Jimi the Kween has just put her high-heeled back to Poof Doof after performing with none other than Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton in West Hollywood. Sliving!
While we are at it, another performer whose name popped up is multi-award-winning singer Dan Sultan. Fresh from performing his hit Do You See Me hit for athletes at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, the First Nations artist will be the headline entertainment come Monday’s Brownlow Awards.
But let’s be honest it’s all about the red carpet for Page 13, as the final fittings and gowns are made. High-profile Aussie model Paris Bishop will make her Brownlow debut with her boyfriend, Essendon midfielder Sam Durham.
An in-demand Chadwick model, Bishop can seriously wear a dress, saying she has worked with Melbourne couturier Alin Le’ Kal plenty over the years.
“Of course Alin was my first choice, I love working with him and we would expect nothing less than extra,” Bishop laughed bringing her own firework to her Brownlow shoot at Le’ Kal’s South Yarra bridal studio this week before Monday’s Brownlow Medal count.
