Petiquette By Caroline clientele causing a fuss with neighbouring businesses

A beauty salon for privileged pooches is causing a stir in Elwood, with a neighbouring bike shop complaining about the clientele cocking their legs on the street, before and after appointments.

Dog groomers to the wealthy, Petiquette By Caroline, have told the landlord of the bike shop next door to er, “piss off”.

Angry words that even a dog snapping at a bike wheel would understand, come after the beauty salon for privileged pooches was hit with a bill to clean up after dogs started cocking their legs next door.

The pampered pups of Elwood come in for an $85 groom but leave with a stain on their reputation.

Petiquette By Caroline owner Chris Kassaris said the landlord at the Spin Elwood bike shop issued Petiquette (we think it’s a play on etiquette) with a demand to kennel cough up to $700. But he says they’re barking up the wrong tree.

“What do we do? We are one of the most dog dense suburbs of Melbourne. Anywhere you look, up and down from my shop, there are stains everywhere from dog wee. And not just our clientele.

“I told them to, well, piss off. But if the community think I should pay up I will, it’s a tough one.”

Kassaris was at pains to say he was not in a dogfight with Spin Elwood but rather the landlord, who issued him the bill.

“I get it, if my business was not centred around dogs I’d probably be upset if someone’s dog came and wee’d all over my door. But my advice is don’t set up a business in a dog-dense place.”

Spin Elwood owner Harriet P said there has been a strong smell from dog urine.

“The smell has really gotten to people,” Mrs P said.

“They are all lovely people next door, but the smell of urine was washing into the shop and it’s not easy to work with.”

She said the pooch pong had mostly gone after they polished the copper facade.

Maybe the dogs were put off by their reflections. Mrs P said she was unaware the landlord had issued Petiquette by Caroline with a bill.

The Spin Elwood landlord told Page 13 his lawyers would start snapping at us if we revealed his name. Woof!

Port Phillip Council said they urged everyone to get along and while there was a by-law against dog poo there was no offence regarding dogs urinating.

Are they all barking mad?
