Magellan invests in household names such as Facebook, Visa, Apple, Oracle, Microsoft and McDonald’s— and at one point had more than $100bn in funds under management.
Packer invited Douglass to his boat IJE while it cruised the Mediterranean last year.
The yacht is named after Packer’s three children, Indigo, Jackson and Emmanuelle.
Douglass, a father-of-four, split with his wife Alexandra late last year, but some say all is amicable and they sometimes share a house.
