MELBOURNE’S best-known bordello, the Daily Planet in, ahem, Horne St, Elsternwick, will go out with a bang tomorrow night, finally closing its legs after 44 years.

It will become The Wellness Planet — a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. Seems what goes up must come down.

BROTHEL DAILY PLANET TO CLOSE

WHAT IT WAS LIKE INSIDE MELBOURNE’S MOST NOTORIOUS BROTHEL

The luxury brothel was opened in 1974 by John Trimble, nephew of crime boss “Aussie Bob” Trimbole. Trimble dropped the “o” years later.

It was said to cater for its clients’ “most sought-after desires”.

Its holding company Planet Platinum became the first in the expanding sex industry to list on the Australian Securities Exchange, with Trimble flying in Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss to launch the listing.

Planet Platinum was eventually wound up, the brothel premises sold in 2015 for $8.85 million. Tomorrow night marks the last chance for its clientele to make whoopee.

“We will be closing one door and opening another,” Trimble told Page 13 with a straight face.

“We want to put something back into the community.”
